Oatman, AZ 86433
Oatman was named in the posthumous honor of Olive Oatman, a youthful Illinois girl who was abducted in 1851 by the Apache Indians and forced into slavery. She was later traded to the Mohave Indian tribe in 1857 near the current site of the town bearing not only the mental marks of her suffering, but also bodily marks in the form of tattoos. Olive spent three years with the Mohave Tribe before being returned to her family. Read the story »
